Call for Speakers [closed]

Update

Call for Speakers is now closed

We will inform everyone about the first week of May. In case you have questions or need any assistance please contact us at europe@wordcamp.org.

In June 2020, the European WordPress community came together at the first, and also the biggest, WordCamp Europe Online. Although we all considered it odd not to meet and attend the event in real life, it has now become quite a common thing: large events going live online.

With lots of happy memories from last years edition we are now ready to continue making this online event another successful one.

What are the topics that we are looking for?

Basically, as long as it relates to WordPress is some way, shape or form, we’ll welcome proposals for just about any talk you can think of.

The Organising Team intends to deliver an online event with a balanced and diverse range of speakers that reflect the WordPress community and our society. We’re eager to hear and see speakers who reflect the WordPress community and society. Please submit your application, even if you’ve never spoken before. Our attendees are eagerly looking forward to learning from your experiences, being WordPress or not.

All WordPressers are welcome to apply: while roughly half of WCEU attendees have a technical background, the other half come from the world of marketing and business so don’t be put off if you’re not a developer.

During the selection process and schedule planning, we’ll carefully consider all of the proposed talks to make sure that WCEU 2021 Online offers a good balance of interesting content for everyone.

To give you a little inspiration to apply, here are just a few ideas to get your creativity flowing:

  • Accessible design
  • Advanced development
  • Business strategy
  • Copywriting
  • Culture
  • Frameworks
  • Healthy life and work
  • Project Management
  • Security
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • Storytelling
  • Success stories
  • Typography
  • Working remotely
  • Website Performance Optimization (WPO)

What presentation formats will be available?

Unlike last year we’re planning to have two tracks. Each slot on the schedule will be 45 minutes in total. There will be an introduction of 3 minutes, content will take up to 20 minutes of each slot, followed by 10 minutes for a speakers interview, then a sponsors interview and 7 minutes break to switch between tracks and speakers, grab a cup of coffee, or a quick run for a sanitary stop over.

WCEU 2021 Online will feature talks in the following formats:

  • Long talks: 30 minutes in total, breaking down to around 20 minutes for the talk & 10 minutes for the speakers interview.
  • Lightning talks: 10 minutes for the talk, followed by 5 minutes for the speakers interview.

Let’s talk about dates: when does this process start and end?

The Call for Speakers will be open until 24th April 2021, so make sure to send in your application before the deadline.
